Billing Aquadrome – Friday 16th to Sunday 18th August 2019

The 2019 Northampton Balloon Festival will be the 30th event and one that was a spectacular sight in the skies over Northamptonshire. 

 

Whilst ballooning is a weather dependant activity the balloonists want to fly, so if the conditions allow, the balloons will be flying at both 6am and 6pm on each of the three days of the event.

At 9.00pm on Saturday evening, we will also be having a “Balloon Glow”. Come and watch the balloons turn into giant lanterns tethered to the ground, pulsating to the music – its magical!

2018 was marked a successful event despite the winds over the weekend, with a full flight of balloons on the Friday morning, and the 4 most experienced pilots managing to launch despite the gusty conditions on Saturday evening, together with tethering on the field on Saturday afternoon, the ever popular “meet the pilots” on Saturday and Sunday afternoons, and a most spectacular glow to music on Saturday evening.

2017 : Sunday Morning Flight

After the bad weather of Friday and Saturday passed through, we managed to get around 30 balloons in the air this morning, all drifting down towards Santa Pod Raceway and Riseley, Bedfordshire.  We are hopeful of getting balloons in the air again this evening, with the final pilot briefing of the weekend taking place at 6pm.
